Since its inception in 1998, Potter's Hand Ministries (PHM) has reached out to thousands of people world wide. Founder Mike Eddins and the PHM team take others along while following Jesus instruction to "go and make disciples of all nations...teaching them to obey everything [He] commanded..." (Matthew 28:19) PHM's vision statement is simply, "to encourage and challenge all people everywhere in Christlikeness." Potter’s Hand is a spiritual formation ministry that specializes in spiritual direction, silent retreats, small group experiences, and spiritual leadership development.

Mike Eddins is the founder and director of Potter's Hand Ministries. The establishment of PHM follows years of serving the church as pastor and director of Christian Education as well as experience in the Christian publishing industry. Mike holds a B.A. in Christian Education from Oral Roberts University and an M.A. in Christian Thought from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Illinois. He is also ABD in Spiritual Formation with George Fox Seminary. He is an Adjunct Professor of Philosophy at Tulsa Community College and an ordained minister in the Association of Vineyard Churches. Mike lives in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma with his wife Ronna, & their sons Stephen, Samuel, and Simon.

“People don’t know what spiritual growth is and even if they knew, they are not motivated to pursue it and even if they were, they’ve already got enough.” By John Ortberg

This statement is a correct observation of the spiritual atmosphere in America. PHM works to cultivate conversation and experience that will reveal the reality of the depth of relationship people can have with Jesus Christ. Consider becoming a part of this work?

Dear Friends and Family

We are happy to share that Potter’s Hand Ministries quietly and substantially influenced many people for the Kingdom of God in 2011.  The activities described in this letter will give a brief visual of God’s work in the lives of those God brought across our path.  I continue to consistently meet with men for spiritual friendship, discipleship, direction, and mentoring.   These guys continue to encourage me while observing the work of the Holy Spirit in their lives.  I feel privileged that they allow me to encourage and challenge them in their walk of faith.  I have met with over 30 different men this last year and it has been a pleasure.

The beginning of the year was spent developing and leading small group retreats at the cabin of PHM board member Kent Bacon.  He has a great cabin near Kiefer, Ok which can sleep up to six people.  The first retreat was conducted in March with 5 guys.  I used this one as a dry run with experiments on meals I cooked over the open fire and various activities.  I mixed in good food, fellowship, story telling, group prayer, and individual prayer.  We had a great time with Jesus at the center of all we did.

I was able to put together a schedule and menu that worked well for the second retreat in June.  It was well attended with 10 guys and the time of discussion and prayer took us late into the night.  I count both retreats as successes and I plan to do more of them in 2012.  I strongly believe these retreats have become another effective ministry activity to accompany the one on one meetings and the silent retreats.

I was privileged to speak at one of the main sessions for the Believers Church men’s retreat this past fall with 85 in attendance.  I used some fun “manly movie clips” using Clint Eastwood and Lord of the rings movies to illustrate my talk on the empowerment of relationships.

The fall of 2011 also afforded me the opportunity of a continuing education event in Wichita, Kansas at Friends University featuring the philosopher and theologian Dallas Willard.  I loved listening to his challenging and inspiring talks on spiritual formation.  During the conference I ran into an old friend who invited me to guest lecture in his spiritual formation class.  I went and had so much fun being back on the ORU campus and teaching on developmental spirituality.

Ronna took time this fall discipling some young women on Monday nights.  She truly enjoyed facilitating this time of encouragement and prayer for them and will continue to do that in 2012.

Sincerely

Michael & Ronna Eddins
